Softball Recap: Cyprus Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Cyprus had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Kearns on Monday. Cyprus was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Kearns. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Breelyn ( Bree ) Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Calee Sharp was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Grace Gober was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cyprus, bringing their record up to 9-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Kearns, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Cyprus will be playing in front of their home fans against Grantsville at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kearns, they are taking a road trip to challenge Taylorsville at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kearns' pitchers better be ready for this one: Taylorsville has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
