Preview: Chester Yellowjackets vs. Gibault Catholic Hawks
The Chester Yellowjackets will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Gibault Catholic Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Chester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Chester's and Waterloo's contest was close at halftime, but Chester turned on the heat in the second half with 39 points. Chester blew past Waterloo 47-23. The victory was just what Chester needed coming off of a 73-19 defeat in their prior match.
Chester found their leader in underclassman Lexie Mott, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Aubrey Coleman was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Gibault Catholic has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 25 points or more this season. They blew past Metro-East Lutheran 48-21 at home. The victory was just what Gibault Catholic needed coming off of a 59-37 loss in their prior game.
The win got Chester back to even at 5-5. As for Gibault Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Chester beat Gibault Catholic 60-50 in their previous meeting back in November. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chester since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
