Basketball Game Preview: Spring Lions vs. Nimitz Cougars

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Spring Lions take on the Nimitz Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday... Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Nimitz will be up against a hot Spring team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Spring breezed by Dekaney to the tune of 53-25 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Nimitz entered their tilt with Eisenhower on Wednesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They blew past the Eagles 65-24. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 23 points or more this season.

Spring has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-16 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Nimitz, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-8.

Spring came up short against Nimitz in their previous meeting on January 7th, falling 57-50. Can Spring avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
