Basketball Recap: Desert Mountain Takes a Loss

Desert Mountain was the 94-71 winner over Mountain Pointe when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Desert Mountain Wolves fell 84-73 to the Mountain Pointe Pride on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (61), the Wolves still had to take the loss.

Desert Mountain has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Mountain Pointe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Mountain will challenge Arizona College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Mountain is facing Arizona College Prep at the right time seeing as Arizona College Prep is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mountain Pointe, they will square off against Carl Hayden Community at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Carl Hayden Community will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mountain Pointe surely won't give up without a fight.
