Mountain View had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 14-9 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Gunn Titans 6-5. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jaeden Pietrofeso tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Zander Yocum was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Christian Bandy, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Gunn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured eight losses in a row.

On Gunn's side, Cyrus Silva Rezvani was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the fewest earned runs Silva Rezvani has allowed since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Ryan Fitzhugh and Tripp Higgins did some serious damage despite the final result: Fitzhugh went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Higgins went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mountain View will have a chance to go back-to-back against Gunn: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
