Football Recap: Kayla Siebold and Piper Elhaj Pace Tesoro Defense

Despite a strong season so far, Tesoro has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 19-15 heartbreaker at the hands of the Beckman Patriots.

Although Tesoro took the loss, they still got scores from Frankie Mosh and Jenna Tuttle.

Even if they lost, Tesoro's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kayla Siebold and Piper Elhaj, who racked up all seven sacks between them. Elhaj has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times she's played. Mosh got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Marina Babayani continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Beckman, throwing for 200 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of her passes, and also rushing for 57 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries. Babayani has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is undefeated when she posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 2-6 otherwise.

Tesoro's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Beckman, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Tesoro will face off against El Toro at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 10.2 points per game this season, so the Titans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Beckman, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 32-25 victory against Dana Hills on the 17th.
