Softball Game Preview: Western Reserve Roughriders vs. Monroeville Eagles

Western Reserve hasn't had much luck against Monroeville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Roughriders will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Western Reserve is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against South Central, falling 13-3.

Western Reserve saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layken Barnhart, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Makayla Case was another, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Monroeville suffered their biggest loss since April 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 9-3 to Crestview. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madison Reiber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Western Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Monroeville, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.

Western Reserve might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Monroeville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Roughriders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
