Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pioneer

Pioneer extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 18-10 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Knox Redskins. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Redskins since April 20, 2016.

Katelynn Haynes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Kennell, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Beasy, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Knox, they now have a losing record of 12-13. Their loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

On Knox's side, Karleigh Friedrich made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer will head out to square off against Caston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Comets have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Knox, they will venture away from home to take on Bremen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
