Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Fremont

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Creighton Prep). Everything went their way against the Fremont Tigers on Monday as they made off with a 14-1 victory. With that win, the Junior Jays brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Quinn Peterson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Creighton Prep is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Max Pietro was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Tony Coniglio also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Creighton Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Creighton Prep has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Fremont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Creighton Prep will face off against rival Omaha Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Junior Jays' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Huskies have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Fremont is set to take on their familiar foe Burke at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
