Baseball Recap: Winamac Comes Up Short

If Winamac was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Pioneer on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell just short of the West Central Trojans by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Winamac saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hutch Martin, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Winamac has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for West Central, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Looking ahead, Winamac will venture away from home to face off against North White at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Central, they will welcome Faith Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Trojans' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Eagles have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
