It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Weed had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They strolled past the Portola Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 73-54. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won 18 matches in a row.

Despite the loss, Portola still got an impressive performance from Connor Sheridan, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 16 boards. Sheridan is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in each of the last 22 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Magnus Berg, who posted 19 points.

Weed's win bumped their record up to 24-6. As for Portola, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 22-8 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weed will venture away from home to take on Middletown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weed knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 contests -- so hopefully Middletown likes a good challenge. As for Portola, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fortune Early College is on a five-game streak of home wins, Portola a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
