Baseball Recap: Vicksburg Takes a Loss

Niles hit Vicksburg with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs lost 10-1 to the Vikings. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Vicksburg got a good showing from Donnie Yant, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Yant has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vicksburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braylen Vallier, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Liam Cohrs also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Vicksburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Niles, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Coming up, Vicksburg will challenge Marine City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Niles, they will square off against Mishawaka Marian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
