Basketball Recap: Tri-State Christian Comes Up Short

Tri-State Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Quad Cities Christian Eagles and fell 65-31. The Huskies were probably out for revenge after losing 68-33 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Tri-State Christian had strong showings from Noah Duenser, who posted ten points, and Matthew Gilles, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points Gilles has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Eells, who scored four points.

It was another big night for Tanner Garant, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 21 points and four steals for Quad Cities Christian. Garant is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cobie Becker-Paradiso, who earned 11 points in addition to four steals and three blocks.

Tri-State Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Quad Cities Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Tri-State Christian has already played their next contest (against Pathway Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Quad Cities Christian and Alleman will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Quad Cities Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.9 points per game this season.
