The Taft Eagles will challenge the Whitley County Colonels at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Taft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Taft challenged Atherton on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Ravens 17-10. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

The team relied heavily on Jiselle Hernandez, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Villaraza, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI.

Hernandez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Taft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The Eagles are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Whitley County scored first but ultimately less than Oak Harbor in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against the Rockets, falling 12-1. The Colonels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Whitley County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Taft, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything went Taft's way against Whitley County when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as Taft made off with a 14-3 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colonels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
