Softball Game Preview: Mauston Golden Eagles vs. Wautoma Hornets

The Mauston Golden Eagles will head out to challenge the Wautoma Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mauston is looking for their season's first victory.

Mauston fell victim to Westfield Area and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 28-0 to the Pioneers.

While Wautoma didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Nekoosa 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Mauston's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Wautoma, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Mauston suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Wautoma in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
