Baseball Recap: Burgettstown Victorious

Burgettstown won the last time they faced Bethlehem Center and things went their way on Monday too. The Blue Devils walked away with a 5-1 win over the Bulldogs.

Matthew Bredel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Burgettstown's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Blake Neal was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Bryce Speer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Burgettstown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethlehem Center struck out 11 times.

Burgettstown's record is now 4-5. As for Bethlehem Center, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Burgettstown will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
