Softball Recap: Oregon Comes Up Short

Oregon blew Rock Falls out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Rock Falls got their revenge. The Hawks fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 6-4. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Ella Dannhorn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Ortega, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Oregon is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Rock Falls, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-18.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Oregon will face off against rival Dixon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rock Falls is set to challenge their familiar foe Genoa-Kingston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
