Soccer Recap: Carlynton Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Allegheny on Wednesday, Carlynton came back down to earth. The Cougars came up short against the Avonworth Antelopes on Saturday, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, Carlynton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Avonworth are ranked 112th).

Carlynton's goal came courtesy of Riley Mauro, who's now up to ten this season.

Carlynton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-1. As for Avonworth, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Carlynton will face off against Freedom Area at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Avonworth, they will challenge Quaker Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Quaker Valley's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Avonworth's offense will have their work cut out for them.
