Softball Recap: Redfield Starts Season with Win Against Sioux Valley

Redfield took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sioux Valley Cossacks, sneaking past 4-3. This was payback for the Pheasants, who suffered a 10-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Addisyn Evans spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Layla Hardie was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Sioux Valley is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Redfield will venture away from home to square off against Sisseton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sioux Valley, they will challenge Parker at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
