Basketball Recap: Westwood Comes Up Short

Westwood lost against Dobson back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Westwood Warriors were beaten by the Dobson Mustangs 67-36. The Warriors' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Westwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ike Tingey, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. Those five boards gave Tingey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ace Lee, who posted eight points.

Dobson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brodi Piluga, who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points. Kayah Key was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Dobson, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-10.

Westwood has already played their next match (against Skyline), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dobson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-44 win against Sunnyside on the 24th.
