Baseball Recap: Danville Beats Mount Carmel for Their Sixth Straight Win

Danville hadn't done well against Mount Carmel recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Ironmen were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the RED TORNADOES. Considering the Ironmen have won nine matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cole Duffy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Wyatt Shultz was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Eli Welliver was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Danville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Carmel only posted an OBP of .143.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Danville, bringing their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mount Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3-1.

Danville and Mount Carmel should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Ironmen (ranked 80th) will meet Lewisburg (ranked 465th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Mount Carmel will challenge Central Columbia at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (162 vs. 463).
