Basketball Recap: Chicago Marshall Picks Up Tenth Straight Win on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, Chicago Marshall rose to the challenge on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 63-26 win over the Walther Christian Academy Broncos. The Commandos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 24 points or more this season.

Chicago Marshall was led to victory by Janiyah Green and Alysha Murphy. Green went 8-for-17 to rack up 20 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, while Murphy dropped a double-double with 14 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Murphy a new career-high. Charmarre Scott was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Chicago Marshall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Chicago Marshall pushed their record up to 25-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.1 points over those games. As for Walther Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-18.

Coming up, Chicago Marshall will challenge Orr at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Walther Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
