Softball Recap: Kennedy Has No Trouble Against Rio Americano

Kennedy barely beat Rio Americano the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Kennedy Cougars blew past the Rio Americano Raiders 13-3 on Monday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Kaylena Ogle made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Kennedy let Kira Griffin and Malaiyah Fujinaga?starks run wild. Griffin scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3, while Fujinaga?starks scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Griffin has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was London Deguchy, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Kennedy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Kennedy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rio Americano, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Kennedy has already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Monterey Trail on the 5th. As for Rio Americano, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against River City on the 5th.
