Softball Recap: Hinckley-Finlayson Wins Going Away Against Crosby-Ironton

Hinckley-Finlayson got themselves on the board against Crosby-Ironton on Tuesday, but Crosby-Ironton never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 19-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Aris Richey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Hinckley-Finlayson let Annie Alleman and Autumn Painovich run wild. Alleman got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Painovich went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Painovich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Scott, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Hinckley-Finlayson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hinckley-Finlayson's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Crosby-Ironton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Hinckley-Finlayson will take on Braham at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bombers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Crosby-Ironton, they will face off against Aitkin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rangers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gobblers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
