Baseball Game Preview: Grimsley Whirlies vs. Ragsdale Tigers

Grimsley is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Ragsdale is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Grimsley will welcome Ragsdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Grimsley 2.3, Ragsdale 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, Grimsley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Southeast Alamance.

Sebastian Rodriguez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Tai Richmond also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ragsdale). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over Northeast Guilford on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the match before.

Ragsdale is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. Grimsley's win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Grimsley beat Ragsdale 6-1 when the teams last played on Tuesday. Will Grimsley repeat their success, or does Ragsdale has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
