Basketball Recap: Emery's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Emery suffered their biggest defeat since November 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 54-33 to the Richfield Wildcats. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Scott Johansen and West Johansen certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Scott posted 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while West went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points. The dominant performance gave Scott a new career-high in points.

Gage Yardley was nothing short of spectacular for Richfield: he went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Malik Fautin was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 rebounds.

Emery moved to 9-9 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Richfield, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emery will venture away from home to challenge Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
