Softball Recap: Southeastern Sets Scoring Season-High Against Susan Moore

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southeastern). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Susan Moore Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Emellie Hamilton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hamilton was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Ansley Spitzer looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.

Back at the plate, Alyssa Freeman was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Cassidy, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Southeastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .773. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Southeastern moved to 12-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Susan Moore, their loss was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, Southeastern will look to defend their home field on Monday against Cleveland at 4:30 p.m. As for Susan Moore, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West End at 5:00 p.m. on the 15th.
