Basketball Recap: Walnut Grove Snags 13th Win in Last 15 Games

Walnut Grove waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Melissa Cardinals by a score of 58-46. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in January, they had to take a 59-46 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Walnut Grove to victory, but perhaps none more so than Parker Evanson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Evanson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Byron Scott, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and five assists.

Walnut Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season. As for Melissa, their loss dropped their record down to 17-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walnut Grove will take on Denison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Denison likes a good challenge. As for Melissa, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Melissa Cardinals face off against the Greenville Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
