Softball Recap: University City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Madison

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University City). They blew past the Madison Warhawks 14-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with the Warhawks: they've now won nine in a row.

Melia Galvan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Audrey Forde was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addyson Weathers, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

University City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

University City's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-13-1. As for Madison, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
