Volleyball Preview: A Rolling Columbus Meets a Wounded Dougherty

For the first time this season, Columbus will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They have the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome the Dougherty Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus will be strutting in after a victory, while Dougherty will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Columbus beat Troup County 2-0.

Columbus easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-10.

Columbus can attribute much of their success to Taylor Myers, who had seven kills, three digs, three aces, and a solo block, and Katie Shearer, who had seven kills and five digs.

Meanwhile, Dougherty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to Crisp County.

The final set scores came out to 25-11, 25-11.

Dougherty's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Columbus, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
