Baseball Recap: Nebraska City Takes a Loss

Nebraska City had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it ten. They fell just short of Platte Valley by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Platte Valley this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 back in March.

Greyson Flash was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

As for Platte Valley, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-10 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Nebraska City since March 25, 2023.

On Platte Valley's side, they let Jack Johnson and Hunter Williams run wild. Johnson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Williams went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave Williams a new career-high.

Coming up, Nebraska City will challenge Plattsmouth at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Platte Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-0 defeat against Ralston on the 21st.
