Softball Recap: East Moline United Has No Trouble Against Quincy

East Moline United won the last time they faced Quincy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers blew past the Blue Devils 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Samantha Verstraete was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miah Berhenke, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mea Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

East Moline United kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

East Moline United's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Quincy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Coming up, East Moline United will welcome Sherrard at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Quincy, they will venture away from home to challenge Illini West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
