Basketball Game Preview: York Dukes vs. Douglas County West Falcon

The York Dukes are taking a road trip to square off against the Douglas County West Falcon on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

York picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Lakeview.

Ryan Huston was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 9 en route to 21 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dax Peterson, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Douglas County West came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 64-52. Given the Falcon's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Rockets are ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Douglas County West's win came from a few key players York will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trey Schieber, who scored 22 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Asher, who put up 17 points.

York is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Douglas County West, their record is now 17-2.
