Basketball Recap: St. Pius X Wins Going Away Against Smithville

After losing to Smithville the last time they met, St. Pius X decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The St. Pius X Warriors put the hurt on the Smithville Warriors with a sharp 62-41 victory on Friday. The contest marked St. Pius X's most dominant win of the season so far.

Smithville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tanner Billings, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Tornow, who posted eight points.

St. Pius X now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Smithville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

St. Pius X and Saint Thomas Aquinas will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smithville will take on Van Horn in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smithville is facing Van Horn at the right time seeing as Van Horn is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
