Basketball Game Preview: Choctaw Central Warriors vs. Leake Academy Rebels

The Choctaw Central Warriors and the Leake Academy Rebels will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Choctaw Central sitting on eight straight wins and Leake Academy on 21.

Choctaw Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Neshoba Central, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Choctaw Central was ranked second). Choctaw Central enjoyed a cozy 59-44 victory over Neshoba Central on Tuesday. The Warriors pushed the score to 50-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rockets cut but never quite recovered from.

Leake Academy meant business on Saturday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Thunderbirds squad that has allowed just 28.85 points per contest. Leake Academy blew past DeSoto, posting a 66-33 win. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Leake Academy's win came from a few key players Choctaw Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Addie Crowe, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 16 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marleigh Myers, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Leake Academy's victory bumped their record up to 21-0. As for Choctaw Central, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.
