Basketball Game Preview: Park Crossing Thunderbirds vs. Biloxi Indians

The Park Crossing Thunderbirds will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Biloxi Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Park Crossing has 18 wins , while Biloxi has 14).

Park Crossing is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past JAG 105-12 on Monday. The Thunderbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Park Crossing got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Saniya Jackson out in front who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten boards, and ten assists. Jackson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Meeks, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards.

Jackson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Park Crossing was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Biloxi beat Madison Prep Academy 41-30 on Saturday. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in Mississippi, while Madison Prep Academy are ranked 48th in Louisiana), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Biloxi's win came from a few key players Park Crossing will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zaniya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Biloxi's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Carriere, who posted 11 points and five assists.

Park Crossing pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.2 points. As for Biloxi, their record now sits at 14-0.
