Football Recap: Franklin Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Franklin walked away with it. They pulled ahead with a 14-13 photo finish over the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets on Friday. The 14-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Franklin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addix Sutton, who rushed for 97 yards on only 13 carries, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. That's the most rushing yards Sutton has posted since back in October of 2024.

Sutton was just one part of a punishing run game: Franklin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Franklin pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.3 points on average over those games. As for Forest Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

Coming up, Franklin will head out to take on Hickory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Red Tornadoes have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten games. Forest Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
