Softball Recap: South Point Comes Up Short

South Point came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers, falling 7-0. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Mountaineers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Stella Absher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Kings Mountain, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. South Point will face off against rival Stuart W. Cramer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kings Mountain is set to challenge their familiar foe North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
