Recap: Nevis Tigers vs. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars
The Nevis Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa with a sharp 82-62 win on Friday. The victory was just business as usual for Nevis, who after four games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Nevis to victory were Austin Ahrendt and Alex Lester. Ahrendt scored 26 points, while Lester scored 25 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lester has scored at least 25% of Nevis' points. Another player making a difference was AJ Bessler, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Nevis pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.8 points. As for Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-5 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Nevis will finish 2023 at home by hosting Rockford at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rockford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Nevis is ranked 18th). Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mountain Iron-Buhl at 3:45 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Hopefully Mountain Iron-Buhl focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
