Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Sunrise). They blew past the Somerton Toros 93-35 on Friday. With the Golden Hawks ahead 56-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Desert Sunrise's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxen Young, who posted 22 points. The Golden Hawks are 2-1 when Young posts 15 or more points, but 3-7 otherwise. Cory Yateman was another key player, putting up 22 points.

The win made it two in a row for Desert Sunrise and bumps their season record up to 5-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points over those games. As for Somerton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Desert Sunrise and Somerton will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Golden Hawks see the court they'll take on Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026. As for Somerton, their break will end when they face Yuma at 5:30 p.m. on January 15, 2026.
