Baseball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Bishop Canevin's Winning Streak

If Bishop Canevin was riding high fresh off their 18-5 takedown of Clairton last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crusaders fell 4-1 to the Serra Catholic Eagles on Monday. The Crusaders were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Eagles' pitchers proved too tough.

Bishop Canevin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layne Gerba, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Bishop Canevin moved to 8-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Serra Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

While Bishop Canevin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
