Basketball Recap: Beloit Takes a Loss

Beloit was the 58-56 winner over Clay Center when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Beloit Trojans took a 66-52 bruising from the Clay Center Tigers on Tuesday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Beloit lost, don't look at Eli Johnson. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Cheney, who posted ten points.

Beloit's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Clay Center, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beloit will challenge Southeast of Saline at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clay Center, they will face off against Marysville on Friday.
