Baseball Recap: Nipomo's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Nipomo came out on top against Santa Ynez on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Titans put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 9-1 win. This was a revenge game for the Titans: when they faced off against the Pirates on Tuesday, they had to take a 9-5 defeat.

Aiden Mendoza looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nipomo is 4-1 when Mendoza allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Silveira, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Travis Barr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Nipomo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Ynez only posted a batting average of .130.

The victory snapped Nipomo's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-12 record. As for Santa Ynez, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, Nipomo will challenge Righetti at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Santa Ynez, they will square off against Orcutt Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
