Basketball Recap: Madawaska Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Madawaska can now relate to. They fell 81-71 to the Mattanawcook Lynx on Saturday.

Mattanawcook found their leader in sophomore Kooper McCarthy, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 28 points and five assists. With that strong performance, McCarthy is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Oliver, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 18 points and six boards.

Madawaska's loss dropped their record down to 22-2. As for Mattanawcook, the win keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.

Madawaska does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mattanawcook, they will challenge Mount Abram at 8:45 p.m. on March 1st. Mattanawcook is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 77.8 points per game this season.
