Galena and Damonte Ranch are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Grizzlies will take on the Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Galena is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Bishop Manogue, who was ranked seventh at the time (Galena was ranked 25th). The Grizzlies came out on top against the Miners by a score of 6-2 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grizzlies.

Ava Greene spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Emery Snyder and Jolina Phillips did most of the damage at the plate: Snyder went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Phillips went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Phillips has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch posted their closest victory since April 6, 2024 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Carson, sneaking past 6-5.

Madison Glass was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Olivia Mares, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Damonte Ranch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Galena's record now sits at 9-19-1. As for Damonte Ranch, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-15.

Galena skirted past Damonte Ranch 10-9 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
