Recap: Young Americans Christian Eagles vs. Lanier Christian Academy Lightning
After flying high against the Skipstone Academy Warriors back in December of 2023, the Young Americans Christian Eagles came back down to earth. Young Americans Christian's tough 55-34 defeat to Lanier Christian Academy on Thursday might stick with them for a while. Young Americans Christian has struggled against Lanier Christian Academy recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Lanier Christian Academy was led to victory by Ellie Roberts and Jia Thapar. Roberts scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while Thapar scored 19 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Flowers, who scored seven points along with six assists.
Young Americans Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Young Americans Christian will square off against Killian Hill Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Killian Hill Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Lanier Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fideles Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Fideles Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
