Basketball Recap: Gambell Takes a Loss

Gambell lost against Shishmaref on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Gambell King Polar Bear fell just short of the Shishmaref Northern Lights by a score of 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the King Polar Bear have suffered against the Northern Lights since January 20, 2023.

Shishmaref got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ivan Davis-Nayokpuk out in front who posted 15 points. Noah Nayokpuk was another key player, putting up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Gambell and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Shishmaref, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

Gambell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shishmaref, they have already played their next game, a 63-47 victory against Koyuk Malimiut on the 22nd.
