Game recap: Big Spring's winning streak broken by Wylie high school football team

Wylie (Abilene, Texas) snapped Big Spring (Texas)'s 5-game winning streak, with a 42-24 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, the Bulldogs led 28-17 at the half.

Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 11 entering the fourth.

With the win Wylie extended its winning streak to six games. WHS defeated the Matadors 40-6 last week.



Tobyn Tannehill made a difference for the Steers. The sophomore quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.

The Abilene school's most effective player was Devon Hughes. He threw two touchdowns.

Big Spring came in giving up 10.4 points per game this season.

A 30-7 Wylie victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The loss comes after Big Spring defeated Seminole 29-12 last week.

In a 3A Region I District 4 game next week Big Spring (5-1) takes on Snyder, and Wylie (6-0) will go up against Monahans also in a 3A Region I District 4 game.
