Preview: Ligonier Valley Rams vs. Derry Trojans
The Ligonier Valley Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Derry Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Ligonier Valley suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by North Star on the road and fell 66-35. While losing is never fun, Ligonier Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 615th, while North Star is ranked 226th).
Meanwhile, Derry pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 78-63 to Shady Side Academy.
Ligonier Valley bumped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Derry, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Ligonier Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Derry when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 72-66 victory. Will Ligonier Valley repeat their success, or does Derry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
