Softball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View fell victim to Woodside and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Woodside Wildcats by a score of 1-0. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Not much got past Allison Marcelino, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Woodside off the board. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Marcelino.

Mountain View is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Woodside, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will take on Scotts Valley at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Woodside, they will head out on the road to face off against King's Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so King's Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
